Super extra cool links

Hi.

So guess what I came across? Some pretty awesome linkies.

This one is an interactive photo of a woman's profile with clear skin so you can see all her organs.  You can move the meter on the side to see just how a female's body has to "make room for baby"
It's really neat.

This one is an interactive timeline full of 3d images of a developing fetus and tells you a few facts of what is happening on the week you choose. It's amazing how fast they develop and start to look like little miniature humans!

This one is a little more complicated on the site, but has REALLY cool interactive videos of a developing embryo - fetus in a timeline set up.  **Note, if you find the ones that say 5 months and 6 months--that's where updated pictures of Fetusaurus are.  Well, not him SPECIFICALLY, but you get the idea :))**

So in order to expose my little raptor baby to lots of different sounds, I've been playing my music a notch or two louder and even singing along more.
I want to set aside 20-30 min/day to talk or read to him.
I checked out some audiobooks from the library too, for our reading enjoyment of course ;)
I'm sad the library didn't have any Harry Potter in cd form,
I feel obligated to expose this lil man to only only the magical world that is Hogwarts
but also to Jim Dale, because he has one of the bestest voices ever.

  1. I remember seeing the Body Exhibit in Phx... you know the one where they preserve the bodies with special mixtures so that you can see their muscles and bones and organs that look fresh? Yeah, none of that fazed me... but the room with the fetuses encapsulated (don't worry, they were stillborn)... that stopped me in my tracks.

Its something magical and unseen and unfamiliar and beautiful (even though this exhibit was sad) because that was a mini human and people grow them and theyre real and they change lives.

More people should make friends with embryos. They're the future.

  2. That was my favorite exhibit for sure. It was such a special and sacred feeling in that little room, so overwhelmingly spiritual. It was pretty incredible how it changed so fast from the busy and noisy exhibits outside the curtains, but once you entered into the "baby" place, everyone was silent. I know it really freaked out some and I was glad they curtained it off. I think it would have been especially hard for mommies and daddies who have lost little ones. But man, was it cool.
It's amazing to me that EVERYONE starts out the same.
There should be a superhero called Super Fetus, they are by far some of the strongest humans out there. I'm a little bias but I think my baby could take on that challenge ;)

    1. I'm so glad you saw it too! It was curtained off, and that kind of made it even more special:) I love thinking about how everyone started out the same... mostly. Some are luckier than others when it comes to prenatal care... your little boy is one of the luckiest of them all! He is already super duper loved and he hasn't even been born! He's gonna be awesome.
